Pre-marital and Marriage Counseling Clients are asked to complete a different intake form than Individual Clients. Those intake forms are e-mailed to the clients and they can either complete them and e-mail their intakes to me or bring them to the first session. Each client upon arrival is welcomed into my office with coffee, tea, water and snacks to make them feel at home. The sessions are very informal and relaxing. Usually we get a feel for each other and discuss the issues that the clients want to work on. After the session, we schedule the next appointment and put a plan together to help the client work towards their goals of being healed.

Working in the church I realized so many people were hurting and just needed someone to talk to. Then as I worked in the schools, I realized young people needed a listening ear and to know someone genuinely cared about them and their issues. As I continued working in the church, I realized families needed healing from their past and weren't sure how to get that healing and also so many family members had loved ones who were incarcerated. I started going into the prisons at first with my church, then became a Spiritual Advisor in the prisons. I recognized I needed more education to help those in need and decided to focus specifically on counseling so I could help people with the proper tools to get the healing they needed.
I work with all types of customers. I do not work with clients who have court appointed cases.
I have always believed working with people was my calling in life. As a Minister and Youth Pastor I have been counseling and mentoring inner city youth and their families for over 25 years. I also worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support person helping youth with developmental needs. I worked in the prison ministry and also in the school system for over 13 years. Working with couples is a passion of mine that I take a special interest in being married almost 34 years and having to work out problems that were challenging. Also helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and self esteem are one of the areas I have spent a large amount of time working with since relocating to Georgia.
Working with clients that are broken and seeing them be healed is the best feeling ever. Seeing young people break through depression, anxiety and low self esteem is so rewarding because their life is now changed forever. Seeing couples that have split up come back together and give their relationship a second change or see couples struggling and not knowing what to get the tools to help their relationship be successful is the ultimate blessing anyone can have. Each clients situation is different and depending on their issues will depend on how long it takes to use the tools given to help them be successful. I believe that all things are possible if you only believe.
The advice I would give to anyone seeking a counselor is to read their story. Make sure that person has experience in the area you have a need. See if you feel a connection as you are reading the information they have provided for you and see if they are willing to talk to you in advance and answer any question or concerns they may have before making an appointment.
